It's Like Riding a Bike
My bike was the coolest thing I ever owned! A chromed out Diamond Back with pegs and all the trimmings. I felt like a rock star riding around our small town on that bike. Although I would eventually turn out to be pretty good on a bike, it took me a long time to learn to ride.
I remember the feeling as I was learning that the bike was going to get out of control once I couldn’t lean on my father’s hands to hold it up. He would run alongside me just like a million other parents have done and then let me go as I tumbled into the yard and tried to land in the soft grass. At the time I was worried that if he let go he wouldn’t be there as I started to crash. Funny thing was, I never once landed in the grass. In fact I never even fell over until I actually learned to ride better. My dad always caught me right before that ever happened. He was right there after all.
How many times do you feel like God is not there for you? How many times have you prayed only to feel like your prayer went unanswered? It’s happened to me. Sometimes we get so caught up in everything wobbling around like our bike used to, that we begin to think God has left us alone to tumble into the grass. We get so scared that it becomes hard to look over our shoulder and realize that he is running right beside you. He will never leave you alone!! He wants you to be able to ride that bike and experience the fun and freedom that come with it. He may let go but you are never alone!
